The collision occurred on Main Street near Dairy Queen in Clay City. Martin was driving a Buick Encore and hit 42-year-old Ross Hicks, of Mt. Sterling. Hicks was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, according to KSP.

By many, Hicks was known as a father, a friend, and the "Barber on Wheels".

A GoFundMe has been created for Hicks' family: Fundraiser by Cierra Robertson : Help Cover Ross Hicks' Funeral Expenses created by Hick's niece Cierra.

She says the following about her uncle, "He leaves behind a family that loved him endlessly, and a community that became more than just friends to him. Ross touch the lives of many people in our small town throughout his life, from cutting hair, to sharing laughs and love with everyone he came in contact with. Ross never knew a stranger. Ross had no life insurance, and did not pay into SS. He needs his community now more than ever to help with the load left on his mother and his loved ones. All funds will go to Hearne Funeral Home in Stanton to cover the cost of his funeral, and headstone. Any amount is greatly appreciated along with your prayers during this difficult time. Thank you."
