The following is excepts from "Only in Kentucky" written by Kelly Carroll:

"I love meeting people who take pride in their work. From teachers to gardeners, small business owners, and beyond, I find people dedicated to high-quality work inspiring. Recently, I spoke with a mother-daughter team committed to crafting exceptional organic soaps, body products, and more. Vickie and her daughter, Sarah, own and operate Positive Attraction Soaps Co. in Beattyville, Kentucky. After hearing about their business and teamwork, I wanted to buy everything they sell. I think you will, too.

Positive Attraction Soaps Co. grew from a family tradition of soapmaking. As Sarah explained, "My grandpa always had super sensitive skin, and my grandma made him soap." Sarah and Vickie began making soap together to bond, and eventually, they gave the bars as gifts. Those who received their soaps said they loved them and asked if they could buy more. "Then, it just kind of spun off from that," Sarah said. The business has "even surprised us how far it's gone, and we're happy with it," Vickie said.

Sarah and Vickie also run an organic botanical farm where they grow ingredients for their products: roses, patchouli, lemongrass, lavender, calendula, eucalyptus, and more. The pair then harvests, processes, and incorporates the botanicals into their products. The results are "really wholesome bath and body products," Vickie explained.

Vickie and Sarah work together every step of the way, with Vickie focusing more on the creative aspects of the business and Sarah leading the logistical elements. Vickie often develops ideas for new products. Sarah then creates the packaging, labeling, and marketing. Sarah said, "It's a lot easier when I let her do what she wants. You know, people say 'Live and let God.' I say, 'Live and let Vickie.'" Vickie joked that Sarah has a more youthful brain, but emphasized that 'it's a mutual friendship, and you know, family, of course.'"
