I find it interesting to compare scripture, for instance in John II we read of Lazarus and his resurrection. In verse 44 we read “And he who had died came out bound hand and foot with with gravel clothes, and his face was wrapped with a cloth. Jesus said to them, ‘loose him and let go’. The assumption is that his legs had been bound separately. So, beginning with chapter 18, John we read of the crucifixion and resurrection of Christ Jesus

. In chapter 20 we are told of Mary Magdalene going to the tomb while it was dark and she saw that the stone had been taken away from the tomb. She ran to Simon Peter and the other disciples (John) and said ‘they have taken away they’re Lord out of the tomb and we don’t know where they have laid Him’.

So Peter and John ran to see and John came to the tomb first and he, stooping down, looked in and saw the linen cloth lying there, and the napkin (so Strong’s literal translation says some other translations say handkerchief) verse 7 says it had been around his head but not lying with the linens cloths but folded together in a place by itself.

Now, here is where I get excited! It was the custom at that time if at a meal one had to get up before they were finished eating, the napkin was neatly folded and laid aside indicating they would return to finish. Notice that the linen burial cloths undisturbed were lying there. He had simply slipped out of them in His resurrected body, folded the napkin, laid it in another place to let them know, I’ll be back! Hallelujah! He is coming back! He promised He would. Are you ready for His return? He’s coming back!
