London Police Department distributes “Give Me A Reason” drug kits

LONDON, Ky. (WYMT) – The London Police Department is one of many locations distributing “Give Me A Reason” drug kits for Operation Unite in Laurel County as a way to help prevent drug use in teens.

Officials say this free, saliva-based kit helps bring trust back into homes by creating the conversation starter that parents need.

Magen Zawko, London PD PIO, says the kits “give kids a reason” to say no to their peers simply by being a reminder that they can be tested for ten different drugs in under 20 minutes.

“I’ve had a parent come in and say they were doing the kit with their children just to break the ice so they didn’t feel like they were being put on the spot,” Zawko said.

“But [also] just to say this is what we are going to do in our household and I want you to feel comfortable. I’m going to do it with you. We are a drug-free household.”

Police officials encourage families in the region to stop by and take advantage of these free kits that have potential to save even more lives.
