Lee County Fiscal Court Notes for January

   On January 8th, the Lee Co. Fiscal Court held its regular monthly meeting with all magistrates in attendance. 

    *Noted - for record that Magistrates and County Judge have received bank balances/financial reports as of DECEMBER 31, 2025 and a copy of claims adjustments from the DECEMBER- 2025 meeting, list of claims for JANUARY 2026.

   For the month of December 2025, Solid Waste collected approximately $70K (+). This includes receipts plus one grant and one donation from Soil Conservation from the last county cleanup.

       Solid waste is still experiencing issues with one or more of their trucks. Specifically a 10 year old Peterbilt. Director Cornelius stated this truck will eventually have to be replaced and that they have spent a lot of money on repairs for this particular truck. 

  LC Ambulance had 131 runs for December (117 billable). 

     According to deputy coroner, overdoses in the county decreased for 2025.

    Once again, Brian Murray from PRTC was present at the meeting and stated they are half way through phase one of the fiber optic expansion in Lee (78 miles).  

   Phase one is expected to be completed at the earliest April 2026 and no later than late May 2026.

      Brian requested the court or magistrates send him any specific addresses they are needing to know about being available for service.

      Once both phases are complete, 94% of Lee County homes will have the option to connect with PRTC service.

       The following agenda items were approved by the court:

     Approved full time hiring on EMT Madison Smith at $12.50 per hr.

    Approved electrical inspector contract with Calvin L Saum II. 

    Approved LC Sheriff Lucas 2026 annual budget. 

    Approve Lee County Sheriff Joseph Lucas 2026 Annual order setting maximum amount for Deputies and Assistants.

     Approved Lee County Sheriff Joseph Lucas’s 4th quarter Budget, Cumulative Quarterly Report & Annual settlement for calendar year 2025.

    Approved Lee County Sheriff Joseph Lucas request to Fee pool with Lee County Fiscal Court for Calendar year 2026.
