Lee County School Board News
On Feb. 13th, 2023, the Lee County Board of Education held their regular monthly meeting.
The Consideration of live streaming monthly meetings was listed on the agenda. Board member Stephen Lanham made a motion to live stream school board meetings but the motion did not get the necessary second to bring to a vote and the motion died.
On the agenda was the discussion of the continuation of the LCE Vice Principal position. Board member William Owens made a motion to approve the position for the 2024-2025 school year and to consider the position one year at a time due to funding concerns. The motion was seconded by Avis Thompson. Members Donald Napier and Lamont Coldiron voted yes. Stephen Lanham voted no.
Chief Financial Officer Tina Lucas presented the monthly Budget Report. Ms. Lucas reported $616,697.34 in general fund revenues and $490,606.51 in general fund expenditures for the month of January.
She noted it was a good month for expenditures. Ms. Lucas also added that proceeds from the bond sale were added to the construction fund, and the district can earn interest on those funds. The report was approved unanimously.
The latest attendance report is as follows;
2023-24 Attendance Data through Feb. 6, 2024; LCE- 90.87%, LCMHS- 89.20%.
