Rose Marie Gabbard, Lee County High School librarian, has been honored as the “Outstanding School Media Librarian” of the yar by the Kentucky School Media Association (KSMA).
Mrs. Gabbard was awarded a plaque on October 8 at a luncheon during the annual convention of the Kentucky Library Association (KLA). The Kentucky School Media Association is an affiliate of the KLA.
As “Outstanding School Media Librarian” of this bicentennial year, Mrs. Gabbard will automatically become a voting member of the KSMA board of directors. She has previously been a member of this board of seven years as chairperson of various state committees.
In accepting the award, Mrs. Gabbard expressed her appreciation to all former students and fellow media librarians who made this honor possible. She also took this opportunity to tell the membership that her one wish would be that each Kentucky media librarian could have th total cooperation of their school principal and superintendent as she has enjoyed. She credited this unique situation for any contribution she might have made to the state organization and for the services offered in her local professional position.
Mrs. Gabbard is the wife of Robert P. Gabbard, Cashier at the People’s Exchange Bank, and the mother of John P. Gabbard, an engineer for the company of Mason and Hangar in Lexington.
A healthy Lee County requires great community news.
