Eastern Kentucky electric rates may go up

January 25, 2018

Electric rates may go up in Eastern Kentucky later this week if a proposal is approved.

We are waiting to learn whether the Public Service Commission will accept a rate increase for Kentucky Power.

The power subsidiary of AEP proposed a nine percent rate hike.

The Lexington Herald-Leader reports the proposal would raise residential electric bills by an average of $12 a month if approved.

This would make more than $34 million for AEP.
